The in-law apartment of this 1840’s shingle style house needed to be renovated. The new space need to be flexible and accommodating. A new kitchen addition, the enclosing of an existing porch and new entry were constructed with an open and airy decor.
In additional, the project was required to meet the needs of a handicap person. The challenge of designing a ramp which complimented the existing architecture was one of the greater successes of the project. A new larger bath was also incorporated into the design.
The client's desire to use part of the living space as a screened porch in the summer lead to the design and installation of custom windows which feature sashes that disappear into the wall leaving a screened opening.
